一图看懂：HiMCM 与 MidMCMAt a glance: HiMCM vs. MidMCM
两个赛项同期举办、同一套注册系统与同一份须知，区别在于面向学段、年龄上限与可选题目。The two divisions run at the same time, share one registration system and one set of instructions; they differ in who may enter, the age ceiling and which problems are open to them.

一名学生在同一年度只能参加其中一个赛项、只能属于一支队伍；符合 MidMCM 年龄条件的学生也可以选择组队参加 HiMCM，但一旦报名 HiMCM，就按 HiMCM 的规则与题目参赛。A student may enter only one division and only one team in a given year. A student who meets the MidMCM age limit may instead choose to enter HiMCM — but once entered in HiMCM, that team competes under HiMCM's rules and problem set.
这场比赛到底考什么What the contest actually asks for
题目是一个没有标准答案的现实问题（往年题目涉及能源、交通、生态、体育、公共政策等）。评委看的不是「算对没有」，而是：你如何把现实问题变成数学问题、做了哪些假设并说明理由、模型是否合理、有没有用数据检验、结果如何解释、写作是否清楚。摘要页（Summary Sheet）往往是最被看重的一页。Each problem is an open-ended real-world question with no official answer key (past topics have covered energy, transport, ecology, sport and public policy). Judges are not checking whether you got "the right number". They look at how you turn a messy situation into a mathematical one, which assumptions you make and why, whether the model is sound, whether you tested it against data, how you interpret the result, and how clearly you write. The one-page Summary Sheet is usually the single most heavily weighted page.
建模能力Modeling把现实约束抽象成变量、参数与关系；说明取舍与简化的理由。Turning real constraints into variables, parameters and relations — and justifying every simplification.
数据与检验Data & testing查找并引用可靠数据，做灵敏度分析，讨论模型在什么条件下会失效。Finding and citing credible data, running sensitivity analysis, and saying where the model breaks down.
英文科技写作Technical writing in English结构、图表、符号表、参考文献，以及一页能读懂的摘要。Structure, figures, a symbol table, references — and a summary page a stranger can follow.
团队协作Teamwork两周窗口内自行分工与排期，全队独立完成，不得求助外部人员。Within the two-week window the team plans its own division of labour, and must work entirely on its own.

关于日期的一点提醒：竞赛须知页给出的是 11 月 4 日 至 11 月 17 日（EST）。部分中文转述、往年宣传材料或按当地时区换算后的说法会写成 11 月 5 日 / 11 月 18 日 —— 那通常是北京时间或换算误差，不是另一套日程。报名与提交一律以 COMAP 官网竞赛须知页公布的 EST 时间为准：contest.comap.com 竞赛须知。赛季临近时请务必自行复核官网，日期存在被官方调整的可能。A note on dates: the instructions page gives 4–17 November (EST). Some Chinese summaries, older flyers, or locally converted timetables say 5 November / 18 November — that is normally Beijing time or a conversion slip, not a second schedule. Registration and submission are governed by the EST times on COMAP's instructions page: contest.comap.com instructions. Re-check the official page close to the season; COMAP can adjust dates.
两周窗口怎么用：官方给的是一个 14 天的窗口，队伍在窗口内自行选择连续的工作时间，不需要连续熬 14 天。多数队伍会利用两个周末加中间的课余时间。窗口一关闭，无论你是否做完，都必须停笔。How the two-week window works: COMAP opens a 14-day window and each team picks its own consecutive stretch inside it — you are not expected to work for 14 days straight. Most teams use the two weekends plus evenings in between. When the window closes you must stop, finished or not.
参赛资格与指导教师Eligibility and the faculty advisor
报名的主体是指导教师，不是学生本人；学生无法自行注册队伍。It is the advisor who registers, not the student — students cannot create a team account themselves.
学生Students
- 每队最多 4 名学生，允许 1–3 人的小队，但人数不影响评审标准。Up to four students per team; teams of one to three are allowed and are judged by the same standards.
- 同一队的学生须来自同一所学校／机构，或同一个官方认可的「项目（Program）」。All students on a team must come from the same school/institution, or from the same officially recognized "Program".
- HiMCM：中学及以下在读学生。MidMCM：竞赛开始时全队均为 14 岁半及以下（官网表述为 2012 年 5 月 1 日及以后出生）。HiMCM: students enrolled at secondary level or below. MidMCM: every team member 14½ or under at the start of the contest (COMAP states: born on or after 1 May 2012).
- 一名学生一年只能参加一个赛项、一支队伍。A student may join only one division and one team per year.
- 未成年学生需由家长／监护人签署官方的家长授权书（Parental Authorization Form）。Minors need the official Parental Authorization Form signed by a parent or guardian.
指导教师（Faculty Advisor）Faculty advisor
- 每队必须有且仅有 1 名指导教师，由指导教师完成缴费、注册与提交。Every team must have exactly one faculty advisor, who pays, registers and submits.
- 一名指导教师可以带多支队伍，每支队伍单独缴费、单独注册、单独获得控制号。One advisor may guide several teams; each team pays, registers and receives its own control number separately.
- 指导教师负责确认队员资格、监督竞赛规则执行，并在赛后为学生下载证书。The advisor certifies eligibility, enforces the contest rules, and downloads certificates afterwards.
- 竞赛期间指导教师不得参与解题、讨论思路或修改论文。During the contest the advisor must not help solve the problem, discuss approaches or edit the paper.
2026 年的重要变化：关于「项目（Program）」New for 2026: entering through a "Program"
COMAP 在 2026 赛季明确了以「项目（Program）」名义报名的规则。所谓 Program，指的是学校之外、以长期教育为目的的组织形式（例如家庭学校联合体、公益科教项目等）。官方同时明确排除了以下类型：课外辅导机构、应试培训机构、竞赛培训机构、商业性 STEM 中心。这类机构不能作为报名主体，其学生应通过所在学校报名。For the 2026 season COMAP spelled out the rules for entering under a "Program" rather than a school. A Program means an out-of-school body with a genuine long-term educational purpose (a home-school cooperative, a non-profit science education project, and so on). COMAP explicitly excludes tutoring businesses, test-prep companies, competition-training outfits and commercial STEM centres: these may not be the registering body, and their students should enter through their own schools.
如果你是家长，正在考虑让孩子通过校外机构报名 —— 请先确认该机构是否符合 COMAP 对 Program 的定义。资格不符的报名可能在赛后被认定为违规，最坏情况是成绩作废（Disqualified）。最稳妥的路径始终是通过孩子就读学校的老师报名。If you are a parent considering entering your child through an out-of-school organisation, check first whether it meets COMAP's definition of a Program. An ineligible entry can be ruled invalid after the contest, and in the worst case the result is disqualified. The safest route is always a teacher at your child's own school.
报名费用与在线缴费Fee and online payment
缴费是整个流程的第一步 —— 先付款拿到订单号，才能注册指导教师账号。Payment is step one: you need the order number from the receipt before you can create an advisor account.

1打开官方缴费页，选择队伍数量Open the official payment page and set the quantity进入 HiMCM/MidMCM Registration 页面，在 Quantity 处填入要报名的队伍数量（1 支队伍 = 100 美元），确认金额后进入支付。Go to the HiMCM/MidMCM registration page, enter the number of teams under Quantity (one team = US$100), check the total and continue to payment.
2用 PayPal 或银行卡付款Pay by PayPal or bank card有 PayPal 账户的直接登录支付；没有的选择 Pay with Debit or Credit Card，按页面提示填写持卡人姓名、卡号、有效期、CVV、账单地址与邮箱。国内双币信用卡（Visa／Mastercard）通常可用；若失败可换一张卡或改用 PayPal。If you have a PayPal account, log in and pay. Otherwise choose Pay with Debit or Credit Card and fill in cardholder name, card number, expiry, CVV, billing address and email as prompted. If one card is declined, try another or use PayPal.
3保存订单号，并点击「Return to Merchant」Save the order number, then click "Return to Merchant"支付成功页会显示订单号／收据号，请立刻截图或抄下来；同一号码也会发到你填写的邮箱。然后务必点击页面上的 Return to Merchant 返回 COMAP 网站 —— 直接关闭窗口会让流程中断，需要手动回到官网继续。The confirmation page shows an order / receipt number — screenshot or write it down at once; the same number is emailed to the address you entered. Then click Return to Merchant to come back to COMAP. Simply closing the window breaks the flow and you will have to navigate back manually.
订单号丢了怎么办？先查收 PayPal 或银行卡支付平台发来的付款确认邮件（含订单号）；仍找不到，写信给 himcm@comap.org，附上付款时间、金额与付款人姓名请官方协助查询。不要重复付款，报名费不可退。Lost the order number? Check the payment confirmation email from PayPal or the card processor first — it contains the number. If you still cannot find it, write to himcm@comap.org with the date, amount and payer name. Do not pay twice — fees are not refundable.
注册流程：教师账号 → 队伍 → 摘要页Registration: advisor account → team → summary page
付款完成后回到 COMAP 网站，先建指导教师账号，再逐支注册队伍。全流程在浏览器中完成，无需寄送任何纸质材料。After paying, return to COMAP, create the advisor account, then register each team. Everything happens in the browser; nothing is posted or mailed.
1注册指导教师账号Create the advisor account在 HiMCM/MidMCM 页面点击 Advisor Registration，填写下表中的信息。PayPal Order Number 一栏填第 3 步保存的订单号。邮箱是此后所有官方通知的唯一渠道，请填写常用且能收到国际邮件的邮箱。On the HiMCM/MidMCM site choose Advisor Registration and fill in the fields listed below. Enter the order number from step 3 in the PayPal Order Number field. The email address is the only channel COMAP uses afterwards — use one you check and that receives international mail.
2等待账号确认邮件Wait for the confirmation email系统会发送确认邮件。若数小时未收到，请检查垃圾邮件／促销邮件文件夹，以及邮箱是否拦截了境外发件人。COMAP emails a confirmation. If nothing arrives within a few hours, check spam and promotions folders, and whether your mail provider blocks overseas senders.
3用账号登录，注册队伍Log in and register the team登录 Advisor Login 后选择注册新队伍，选择赛项（HiMCM 或 MidMCM），填写每位学生的姓名、年龄、性别、预计毕业年份（邮箱可选），并选择本队的题目（A / B，MidMCM 另可选 C）。Log in at Advisor Login, register a new team, pick the division (HiMCM or MidMCM), enter each student's name, age, gender and expected graduation year (email optional), and choose the team's problem (A or B; MidMCM may also choose C).
4记下控制号（Control Number）Note the control number注册成功后系统分配一个四位控制号，这是队伍在整个竞赛中的唯一身份。论文的页眉、文件名与提交表单都要用它，请务必记录并告知全队。On success the system assigns a four-digit control number — the team's identity for the whole contest. It goes in the paper header, the filename and the submission form, so record it and tell the whole team.
5赛前核对并打印队伍摘要页Check and print the team summary page队伍信息在注册截止前可以在系统内编辑（改题目、改队员）。竞赛开始前请打印或另存队伍摘要页（Team Summary Page），上面有控制号、赛项、题目与全部队员信息，便于核对与存档。Team details can be edited in the system until the registration deadline (change of problem or of members). Before the contest starts, print or save the Team Summary Page, which carries the control number, division, problem and all member details — useful for checking and for your records.

姓名拼写一次定终身。证书按注册时填写的拼写生成，赛后更正流程繁琐。注册前请把全队姓名的拼音写法统一确认一遍（建议与护照／学籍一致）。Spelling is effectively permanent. Certificates are generated from what you typed at registration, and corrections afterwards are painful. Agree the exact spelling of every name before you register — ideally matching passports or school records.
竞赛期间：允许什么，禁止什么During the contest: what is allowed, what is not
COMAP 的核心原则是：一切成果必须出自队伍四名学生之手，任何队外的人都不能参与。COMAP's core principle: everything must be the work of the team's own students; nobody outside the team may take part.
允许Allowed
- 使用图书、期刊、互联网上的公开资料、公开数据集与软件（包括编程语言、数学软件、统计工具）。Books, journals, publicly available material and data sets on the internet, and software (programming languages, mathematical and statistical packages).
- 引用他人的方法、公式与数据 —— 但必须在论文中完整注明来源。Using other people's methods, formulas and data — provided every source is fully cited in the paper.
- 队内四名学生之间任意讨论、分工、协作。Any amount of discussion, division of labour and collaboration among the team's own students.
- 按官方 AI 政策的要求使用 AI 工具（见下）。Using AI tools in the way COMAP's AI policy requires (see below).
禁止Not allowed
- 与队外任何人讨论题目 —— 包括指导教师、家长、其他队伍、同学、网友、论坛与社交媒体。Discussing the problem with anyone outside the team — advisor, parents, other teams, classmates, online forums and social media all included.
- 在竞赛结束前把题目、思路、代码或论文的任何部分发布到网上。Posting the problem, ideas, code or any part of the paper online before the contest ends.
- 请他人代写、代编程、代润色英文。Having anyone else write, code or polish the English for you.
- 抄袭：未注明出处地使用他人文字、图表、代码或结论。Plagiarism: using anyone else's words, figures, code or conclusions without attribution.
- 超过窗口关闭时间继续修改论文。Continuing to work on the paper after the window closes.
关于 AI 工具：COMAP 为 MCM/ICM 与 HiMCM/MidMCM 发布了统一的 AI 使用政策（Contest AI Policy PDF）。要点是：可以使用，但必须完整披露 —— 需在论文正文之后附一份 AI 使用报告，说明用了哪个工具、具体提问了什么、得到了什么、如何使用；该报告不计入 25 页篇幅。未披露而使用 AI，按学术不端处理。政策每年可能更新，参赛前请重新下载当年版本。On AI tools: COMAP publishes one AI policy covering MCM/ICM and HiMCM/MidMCM (Contest AI Policy PDF). In short: AI may be used, but its use must be fully disclosed — attach an AI-use report after the body of the paper stating which tool was used, exactly what you asked, what came back and how you used it. That report does not count towards the 25 pages. Undisclosed AI use is treated as academic misconduct. The policy can change each year; download the current version before you compete.
违反网络使用或原创性规定的后果写在评定结果里：Unsuccessful – Web、Disqualified – Plagiarism、Disqualified – Web 都是官方会公布的结果类别，会记录在队伍成绩上。The consequences appear in the result categories themselves: "Unsuccessful – Web", "Disqualified – Plagiarism" and "Disqualified – Web" are official designations and they land on the team's record.
论文格式与在线提交Paper format and online submission
格式不合规是最容易避免、却每年都有人踩的失分点。提交前请对照下表逐条检查。Formatting slips are the most avoidable way to lose marks, and they happen every year. Check the table below line by line before you submit.

推荐的论文结构A structure that works
- Summary Sheet —— 一页讲清问题、方法、关键结果与结论。评委读的第一页，也常是权重最高的一页。Summary Sheet — one page covering the problem, the approach, the key numbers and the conclusion. It is the first page a judge reads and often the most heavily weighted.
- Introduction / Restatement —— 用自己的话重述问题，界定要回答什么。Introduction / restatement — put the problem in your own words and define what you will answer.
- Assumptions and Justifications —— 每条假设都要说明为什么合理。Assumptions and justifications — every assumption needs a reason.
- Notation / Symbol Table —— 符号表，便于评委查阅。Notation — a symbol table so the judge can look things up.
- Model Development —— 建模过程，从简单模型逐步加入现实因素。Model development — build up from a simple model, adding realism step by step.
- Results and Sensitivity Analysis —— 结果、图表，以及参数变化对结论的影响。Results and sensitivity analysis — outcomes, figures, and how conclusions shift when parameters move.
- Strengths and Weaknesses —— 诚实地写出模型的局限，这是加分项而非减分项。Strengths and weaknesses — being honest about limits earns marks; it does not lose them.
- References / Appendices —— 完整引用，代码放附录（仍计入 25 页）。References and appendices — full citations; code goes in the appendix and still counts towards the 25 pages.
提交Submitting

2填写官方在线提交表单Fill in the official online form通过官网竞赛须知页提供的在线提交表单 forms.comap.org 上传。表单需要填写队伍控制号、指导教师编号与所选题目，并上传命名为「控制号.pdf」的文件。Upload through the online form linked from the instructions page, forms.comap.org. The form asks for the team control number, the advisor ID and the chosen problem, and takes the file named controlnumber.pdf.
3保存提交确认Keep the confirmation提交后保存确认页面截图或确认邮件。若上传失败且时间紧迫，立即联系 himcm@comap.org 并保留证据。Screenshot the confirmation page or keep the confirmation email. If the upload fails and time is short, write to himcm@comap.org at once and keep the evidence.

You may still find older rule texts, past-year guides or second-hand summaries saying "email the paper as an attachment to himcm@comap.org" — that is the old process. Follow the submission method and form link published on COMAP's instructions page for the current year; COMAP also publishes an "Online Submission Process" PDF. If two sources disagree, write to himcm@comap.org and confirm rather than guessing.
评定结果与奖项等级Results and award designations
COMAP 公布的是「评定结果类别」，从最高到最低如下。中文译名为国内通行叫法，非 COMAP 官方中文名称。COMAP publishes result designations, highest to lowest. The Chinese names in circulation are conventional translations, not COMAP's own.

COMAP 不公布固定的获奖比例，各等级的队伍数量每年随参赛情况与论文质量浮动。把目标定在「拿到 Meritorious」并不比「写出一篇自己讲得清楚的论文」更有用 —— 后者恰恰是拿到前者的方法。COMAP does not publish fixed award quotas; the number of teams in each band varies from year to year with the field and the quality of the papers. Aiming at "getting a Meritorious" is less useful than aiming at "writing a paper we can explain ourselves" — which is, in fact, how teams get one.
成绩公布后，指导教师登录官方系统查询结果，并可在 COMAP 证书下载页 下载证书。优秀论文有机会刊登在 COMAP 的 Consortium 刊物上。Once results are out, advisors check them in the official system and download certificates from COMAP's certificate page. Outstanding papers may be published in COMAP's Consortium.
备赛路径与提交前自查清单How to prepare, and a pre-submission checklist
从零开始到能独立完成一篇 HiMCM 论文，通常需要一个学期左右的持续练习。Going from a standing start to writing a HiMCM paper unaided usually takes about a semester of steady practice.
四个阶段Four stages
1读懂一篇好论文（2–3 周）Read a good paper properly (2–3 weeks)先完整读 2–3 篇往年 Outstanding 论文，不求看懂每个公式，而是看清结构：他们如何重述问题、假设写了几条、图表怎么放、摘要怎么写。Read two or three past Outstanding papers end to end. Don't try to follow every formula — look at the structure: how they restate the problem, how many assumptions they list, where the figures go, how the summary is written.
2补齐工具（4–6 周）Pick up the tools (4–6 weeks)Python（NumPy／Pandas／Matplotlib）或 MATLAB 二选一即可；再加上基础的微积分、线性代数、概率统计与最优化概念。工具不必样样精通，够用就好。Python (NumPy / Pandas / Matplotlib) or MATLAB — one is enough — plus basic calculus, linear algebra, probability and optimisation. You do not need mastery, only working competence.
3整题演练（4–6 周）Run whole practice problems (4–6 weeks)选一道往年真题，严格按 14 页以内、三天时间完成一遍，然后请老师或同学只读摘要页，看能不能读懂你做了什么。Take a past problem and work it under real constraints — say 14 pages, three days. Then hand only the summary sheet to a teacher or classmate and see whether they can tell what you did.
4赛前彩排（1 周）Dress rehearsal (1 week)确定分工（建模／编程／写作各有主责但都要参与）、约定沟通方式、准备好论文模板与页眉、测试 PDF 导出与文件大小。Fix the division of labour (someone leads on modelling, coding and writing, but everyone takes part), agree how you will communicate, set up the paper template and header, and test PDF export and file size.

- 文件是单个 PDF，且小于 20 MB。One single PDF, under 20 MB.
- 文件名是「控制号.pdf」，控制号正确。The filename is controlnumber.pdf, with the right control number.
- 总页数不超过 25 页（含摘要页、参考文献、附录）。25 pages or fewer in total, including summary sheet, references and appendices.
- 每一页页眉都是
Team # 控制号, Page X of Y，X、Y 与实际一致。Every page showsTeam # number, Page X of Y, with X and Y actually correct. - 全文英文，字号不小于 12 磅。All English, no font smaller than 12 point.
- 摘要页在第一页，使用官方模板。The summary sheet is page one and uses the official template.
- 全文没有出现学校名、学生姓名、教师姓名、国家或城市名。Nowhere in the paper is there a school name, a student's or advisor's name, a country or a city.
- 所有引用的数据、图片与方法都有出处。Every borrowed dataset, image and method is attributed.
- 图表都有编号、标题与坐标轴标签，正文里被引用过。Every figure and table is numbered, captioned, has labelled axes, and is referred to in the text.
- 假设部分写了理由，不只是罗列条件。The assumptions section gives reasons, not just a list of conditions.
- 如使用了 AI，AI 使用报告已附在第 25 页之后。If AI was used, the AI-use report is attached after page 25.
- 在线提交表单中的控制号、指导教师编号与题目均填写无误，并已保存确认。The control number, advisor ID and problem choice on the submission form are all correct, and you kept the confirmation.
家长与学生常见问题Questions parents and students ask
英语不够好，能参加吗？Is the contest realistic if my English is not strong?
论文必须用英文写，但评委看的是建模思路与论证过程，不是文学水平。句子可以短、可以直白，关键是表达准确、逻辑清楚、术语用对。备赛时多读几篇往年论文，把常用句式（假设的表述、结果的陈述、局限的讨论）积累下来，比背单词有效得多。注意：不能请他人代为润色英文，这属于违规。The paper must be in English, but judges are reading the modelling and the argument, not the prose style. Short, plain sentences are fine; what matters is accuracy, logic and correct terminology. Reading a few past papers and collecting the standard phrasings — for stating assumptions, reporting results, discussing limitations — helps far more than vocabulary drills. Note that you may not have anyone else polish the English; that breaks the rules.
孩子的学校没有老师能指导，怎么办？There is no teacher at school who can advise. What then?
每支队伍必须有一名指导教师完成注册与提交，这一点没有变通余地。但指导教师的职责是行政与监督（确认资格、完成注册、监督规则、提交论文），并不要求会做题 —— 竞赛期间指导教师本来就不能参与解题。因此数学、物理、信息技术老师，甚至班主任，只要愿意承担这份责任就可以担任。Every team must have a faculty advisor to register and submit — there is no way round this. But the advisor's role is administrative and supervisory (certifying eligibility, registering, enforcing the rules, submitting the paper); they are not required to be able to solve the problem — during the contest they are forbidden from helping anyway. So a maths, physics or computing teacher, or even a form tutor, can take the role if they are willing.
校外培训机构可以帮我们报名吗？Can an out-of-school training company register us?
不可以。COMAP 在 2026 赛季明确排除了课外辅导机构、应试培训机构、竞赛培训机构与商业性 STEM 中心作为报名主体。这类机构的学生应通过所在学校报名。资格不符的报名有被判定违规、成绩作废的风险。No. For 2026 COMAP explicitly excluded tutoring businesses, test-prep companies, competition-training outfits and commercial STEM centres as registering bodies. Students at such places should enter through their own school. An ineligible entry risks being ruled invalid and the result voided.
100 美元能退吗？可以换队员吗？Is the US$100 refundable? Can we change team members?
报名费不可退。队伍信息（包括队员与所选题目）在注册截止之前可以在系统内修改；截止后不再可改。The fee is not refundable. Team details — members and problem choice — can be edited in the system up to the registration deadline; after that they are fixed.
一个老师能带几支队？How many teams can one advisor take?
官方没有对指导教师的带队数量设上限。但每支队伍都要单独缴纳 100 美元、单独注册、单独获得控制号，并各自独立完成竞赛，队伍之间不得交流。COMAP sets no cap on the number of teams one advisor may guide. But each team pays its own US$100, registers separately, gets its own control number, works entirely independently, and must not communicate with the others.
时差怎么安排？要熬夜吗？How do we handle the time difference — do we have to stay up?
不需要。竞赛是一个 14 天的窗口，队伍在窗口内自选连续时段工作，只有两头的开始与截止时刻是固定的。对中国队伍来说，实际影响只是：题目在北京时间 11 月 5 日凌晨公布（早上起来看即可），以及必须在北京时间 11 月 18 日上午 10:00 前完成上传 —— 建议提前一天做完，不要卡点。No. It is a 14-day window in which the team picks its own working stretch; only the two endpoints are fixed. For teams in China the practical effect is just this: the problems appear in the small hours of 5 November Beijing time (look at them when you wake up), and the upload must be done by 10:00 am Beijing time on 18 November. Finish a day early rather than cutting it fine.
初中生可以报 HiMCM 吗？Can a middle-school student enter HiMCM?
可以。HiMCM 面向中学及以下在读学生，年龄较小的学生也能参加。但一名学生一年只能参加一个赛项、一支队伍 —— 报了 HiMCM 就不能同时报 MidMCM。年龄符合 MidMCM 条件的学生，选择 MidMCM 通常竞争环境更贴近其学段。Yes. HiMCM is open to students enrolled at secondary level and below, so younger students may enter. But a student may join only one division and one team per year — entering HiMCM rules out MidMCM. Students who meet the MidMCM age limit usually find MidMCM a better match for their level.
获奖率大概是多少？What are the chances of an award?
COMAP 不公布固定比例，每年各等级的队伍数量随参赛规模与论文质量浮动，Outstanding Winner 每年只有极少数队伍。更实际的做法是把目标设为「提交一篇结构完整、假设有理由、结果被检验过的论文」，这本身就已经超过相当一部分提交。COMAP publishes no fixed quotas; the numbers in each band move each year with the size and quality of the field, and Outstanding Winner goes to only a handful of teams. A more useful target is "submit a paper with a complete structure, justified assumptions and tested results" — which already puts a team ahead of a sizeable share of entries.
这个比赛对申请海外大学有帮助吗？Does this help with overseas university applications?
HiMCM 是国际上认可度较高的中学数学建模竞赛之一，参赛经历与获奖可以写进申请材料。但招生官真正感兴趣的是你在项目中做了什么、学到了什么，而不是奖项名称本身 —— 一段能讲清楚「我们如何把一个模糊的现实问题变成可计算的模型」的经历，比一行奖项更有说服力。请把它当作一次真实的研究训练，而不是一枚徽章。HiMCM is among the better-recognised secondary-level modelling contests internationally, and the experience and any award can go into an application. But admissions readers care about what you actually did and learned, not the name of the award — being able to explain how your team turned a vague real-world situation into something computable carries far more weight than one more line on a list. Treat it as genuine research training rather than a badge.
论文写不完 25 页怎么办？What if we cannot fill 25 pages?
25 页是上限不是要求。一篇 12 页、论证紧凑、图表干净的论文，胜过 25 页的堆砌。评委每年读大量论文，冗余内容只会稀释你的核心论点。25 pages is a ceiling, not a target. A tight twelve-page paper with clean figures beats a padded twenty-five. Judges read a great many papers; filler only dilutes your argument.
