Overview
Jointly organized by COMAP (Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications, USA) and the NeoUnion ESC Organization (Hong Kong). The committee includes Solomon Garfunkel and Ben Galluzzo of COMAP, Alfred Cheung of NeoUnion, and representatives from Tongji University, the University of Hong Kong and Moscow State University among others.
Founded in 2014 and first held in 2015 with 17 teams from 10 countries and regions. The international site now cites 54 countries and regions, with over 6,000 students a year taking part in regional rounds.
COMAP lists China — mainland, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan — as a single region, organized by the NeoUnion ESC Organization.
（Meritorious）。68 teams from 37 countries and regions; the problem concerned wildlife conservation in Etosha National Park, Namibia. Two mainland-China teams were recognised: Shanghai High School International Division (Outstanding) and Guangzhou No. 7 Middle School (Meritorious).
A note on the numbers: the "54 countries and regions" on the home page is a cumulative or registered figure, while the 2026 international round actually had 68 teams from 37 countries and regions. They measure different things — don't quote one as the other.
On the NSF: Chinese sources often say IM²C is sponsored by the US National Science Foundation. We could not find that claim on immchallenge.org's about or sponsorship pages, nor on COMAP's site, so this page does not make it.
How to tell the official sites apart
In Chinese search results, unofficial IMMC information sites often rank above the official ones, and it is easy to land on the wrong page.
✅ 国际官网✅ Internationalimmchallenge.org —— 赛事规则、国际轮结果、国际峰会信息。immchallenge.org — rules, international-round results, summit information.
旧域名 immchallenge.org.hk 现已跳转到此站，可作为佐证。istem.info — the Greater China schedule, registration and regional documents. The old immchallenge.org.hk now redirects here, which corroborates it.
报名、缴费与日期请只依据 immchallenge.org 与 istem.info，以及组委会邮件答复。The high-ranking immcc.org.cn (note the triple c) is none of the official sites above. Take registration, payment and dates only from immchallenge.org and istem.info, or from the committee's own email replies.
IM²C 的官方域名只有 immchallenge.org 与 istem.info（以及跳转到 istem.info 的 immchallenge.org.hk）。不确定时，写信到 info@immchallenge.org 或 info@neounion.net 确认后再付款。A general rule: check the domain before you pay anything. IM²C's official domains are immchallenge.org and istem.info (plus immchallenge.org.hk, which redirects to istem.info). When in doubt, write to info@immchallenge.org or info@neounion.net before paying.

One rule specific to the USA: American teams are invited to the US regional round on the strength of their showing in COMAP's autumn HiMCM or MidMCM. This applies to the US region only, not to teams in China.

Greater China: how students in China take part
This section needs one honest sentence.
This page cannot confirm the Greater China registration route or fees for you. The regional site istem.info renders its content with JavaScript, and the tooling used to verify this page could not read its text. The schedule, registration entry point and fee are therefore unverified here. Rather than give you a number that may be stale or wrong, here is where to ask.

The Greater China committee uses a 126.com mailbox (immc_sec@126.com). It is stated here plainly so that parents don't mistake a non-institutional address for a phishing attempt — it comes from an official document hosted on istem.info. Even so, make any payment through the official site, never through a link or account number supplied in an email.
The international round and the Greater China round each have their own names, and the two do not map onto each other one-for-one.
International round
Outstanding — the top designation; the paper or its summary may be published.
- MeritoriousMeritorious
- Honorable MentionHonorable Mention
- Successful ParticipantSuccessful Participant
Greater China round
(Grand Prize)
(Grand Prize Finalist)
(First Prize)
The Greater China award names above come from an official document hosted on istem.info. Do not translate between the two systems — a Greater China 特等奖 is not the same thing as an international Outstanding, which is decided by the international judges among the teams advanced from all regions.
The International Summit
The strongest teams in the international round are invited to the International Summit and Awards Ceremony. The 2026 summit ran 5–9 August in Boston, with the formal programme hosted at Harvard University. The 2027 dates and venue had not been announced at this page's verification date.
What the official site currently does not publish
Listing these openly is meant to show you whom to ask, rather than trusting the first search result.
immchallenge.org/Pages/Rules.html已失效（404），新站尚未上线对应页面 —— 但搜索引擎仍在推荐这个旧链接。There is no complete rules page. The oldimmchallenge.org/Pages/Rules.htmlreturns 404 and the new site has no replacement — yet search engines still surface the dead link. Paper language, page limit and summary-sheet requirements appear on no official page.
Whether an advisor is compulsory is not stated on the international site.
Grade and age limits: only "secondary level", with no precise boundary.
Fees: the international site publishes none, and the Greater China fee could not be verified here.
The 2027 International Summit: dates and venue unannounced.
COMAP has posted a 2027 IM²C flyer PDF, but it is an image-only file whose text cannot be extracted, so nothing from it is quoted here.
